I was under the impression that Telus had solved the 30 to 40 second delay on sports broadcasting. Hockey games, basketball etc. So disappointed that I keep hearing the score and highlights from friends before I can see it.
Anyone else having this issue?

Our Optik team did release a patch last year to reduce the feed delay as much as possible, and continues to work towards reducing it further. It's definitely on their list and of high priority to have resolved as quickly as possible.

I’ve had Telus TV for two years and the delay vs my friends on all sports has not improved. My contract is about to run out and I’m looking to switch based on this. Is there anything that can be done at the user level to improve this?

As stated, our team is working on this issue with a high priority. There are a number of reasons why feeds can be delayed, from content control and technical adjustments at the broadcaster level, to the signal being processed before being sent to someone's television. Our team is aware of the delay and will have it reduced as much as possible as soon as they're able!

Is there an estimate as to how long this may take? Just switched to telus and find this pretty baffling.

Far more than a year. Either they’re totally incompetent or lying. I switched to Sportsnet+ and the delay is gone. Telus blaming the upstream broadcaster is dishonest.

Yes, streaming it. I had Shaw before but can’t recall if I had delays like this. Frustrating when my watch tells me who scored a minute before I see it or if I’m watching with friends. They were always ahead.

I have noticed there is a significant lag in sports games that is unacceptable. I get notifications on my phone that ruin the game and texts from friends that see the action way before I do.
I have noticed there are multiple threads on this issue. Is there a fix? How is this acceptable? Can you even call it "Live TV" anymore?

Can someone please help me with how to fix the delay when watching sports on the new optic digital boxes (Evolution boxes). It’s the new google boxes with Telus.
I have 3 of them and each one plays live TV at a different time. I’ve tried to sign out and back in, factory reset/ restart the boxes. Nothing works. I’m still about 35-1 minutes behind my friends who are watching the same show / sport as my live.
They have the old Telus legacy boxes, and I’ve called Telus about this issue and no one knows how to fix it.
I’ve read Telus is trying to fix the issue but this was back in October of last year. It’s March 2025 now. Is this still not fixed?
Additional info: I have all 3 boxes connected via Ethernet cable and connected directly to my network hub in the basement. I have the same cable running across my house for Ethernet Cat 6. All the boxes are hard wired using the Telus provided Ethernet cable. All 3 boxes play at different times still. Also, the box that is the furthest distance from my network hub (I.e most cable length between) plays sports the fastest - even though it’s still behind my friends regular legacy boxes.

Our team released a patch last year to shorten the delay, and are aware that a smaller delay still persists. This is high on the priority list to reduce as much as possible. While we don't have a definitive date for another patch, our team is working on this as we speak. Appreciate your patience!
