If I order Telus PureFibre 1GBps service in Calgary today (T2E1S9), what equipment would likely be installed?
I'm thinking of switching to PureFibre for the first time and I've been learning about what is required to use your own equipment and forgo using Telus gear.
I am thinking of buying a Ubiquiti Pro or SE, and plugging the GPON SFP module directly into that.
I know that for speeds >1.5 GB, Telus installs the XGSPON.
But for 1 GB, am I guaranteed to get the GPON? Can I request it specifically?
Is the Nokia G-010S-A GPON the only GPON I could consider as a possibility?
I realize it varies by install location and perhaps what the installer has in his van, but I'm just trying to get a sense of whether using your own gear is still a possibility.
I would also like the Ubiqiti router to be about 40 feet away from the DMARC location in my house.
I have the ability to run fiber cables through my drop ceiling fairly easily.
Assuming I can get the GPON, is it wise to prepare for this day by running some fiber cables ahead of time...
