Hi, running a MAC with Sequoia 15.3.2 and a Canon Pixma Pinter Model G7020, recently purchased. Also have the Telus Router white cone shaped large one, which is also fairly new. I have fibre optic network and super high speeds upstairs and down. The Router and the Printer are no further than 2 feet from each other, so really close. I could not connect via Wifi so even tried a LAN wired cable form the router to the printer and still nothing. I am a long time Windows user but new to MAC. Some suggested to assign the printer a static IP address on the network, but I have no idea how to do that. (also reading MAC's are famous for not playing well with printers...) I tried everything using the latest software and tools from Canon. Interesting I can use the Canon app on my iPhone which works perfect everytime. Anyway, any straight forward help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your pixma is Airprint compatible. Set the printer up on the network first (do this on the printer). Then on your Mac go to: "System Settings>Printers and Scanners>Add Printer, Scanner or FAX", and you will see your printer. Airprint will configure all options your printer has (printer, scanner etc). You do not need to download or install any drivers. They are built in.

Thanks and yes I am aware it is AirPrint compatible. However, after reading numerous forums and watching YT videos, that could be part of the problem, as many are saying that is the wrong driver for a Mac. I dont care now about printing from an iPad or iPhone and in fact deleted the Canon app from my phone to try eliminate possible problems. I was able to set it up once this way, using the driver that I think said Canon G7000 series and it worked fine that night but then was gone again the next morning.
When you say setup the printer on the network first, I assume you mean adding it manually by adding the wifi password. I have done this numerous times, as the Canon Wifi setup never works. when I enter it manually it accepts it but the next day after the printer goes to sleep, I think the password is not saved but I am not sure. When I go to System settings>Scanners>Add printer is it never there to add? This has been an ongoing issue. Not sure why this is tough. I follow all Canon install installation instructions and processes, with the latest drivers etc but still never installs. As well, at the very end it asks for drive info and I see other brands like Epson etc but never Canon, not sure why.

You must set up your Canon printer on your local WIFI network. This is your issue. If set up correctly, It will join your network and stay joined. There are no drivers to install. The drivers are BUILT IN to Mac OS. Your issue is getting your printer set up and joined to your wifi network.
If you can get that worked out, the Mac will automatically find the printer on the network and configure it for printing, scanning etc.

I have spent alot more time on this and I get right at the end, and it asks which driver to use. With no driver I cannot proceed to Add (which is grey out).

Yup tried that many many times, its never selects anything or finds anything. Tried to add the driver manually but its all bundled in the install package.

Check if the firmware is the latest. You do this on the printer. Device Settings > Firmware
If there is an update, install it. Then try re-adding your printer.

You did that right away and always do first.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I had a similar problem after a Sequoia update on my Mac Studio. I have a Telus router, and both my Mac Studio and my Epson printer are connected to it via ethernet cables. The Mac would no longer recognize the printer after the update, and it turned out that Sequoia had modified the Mac network Firewall, and the Mac Firewall was blocking the printer. I tried tweaking various Network settings, but that didn't help so I turned off the Mac Firewall, and now the printer works fine (I did enter the printer IP address in the Add Printer dialog box...you can get the printer IP address from your router if you need to). I am not sure what the Mac Firewall actually does since it is the Telus router that is directly connected to the internet, not my Mac Studio. So turning off the Firewall might be worth trying if you haven't already tried that (System Settings, Network, make Firewall inactive).

Thanks for the suggestion. Would that turn off the firewall just for printing or for everything?
