my children are disabling wifi schedules that i set up in the telus android connect app. i have whitelisted all mac addresses in the router. changed the router admin password and my "my telus" password for logging into the android app and telus online services.

they are very connected and tech savvy children. there must be a workaround to disable these schedules that i'm not aware of.

You've already taken some strong steps by changing passwords and managing MAC address access. However, if they're still disabling the Wi-Fi schedules, it's possible they’ve:

  • Found access to another device with admin/app credentials
  • Installed a VPN or used mobile data as a workaround
  • Reset the router manually (if they have physical access to it)

We recommend the following next steps:

  • Enable two-factor authentication on your My TELUS account for added security.
  • Set up a guest Wi-Fi network for their devices and apply stricter controls there.
  • Restrict physical access to the router itself to prevent resets or direct interference.
  • Ensure only your device has admin access to the TELUS Connect app by logging out all other sessions (you can do this from the app’s security settings).
  • Explore parental control solutions like TELUS Online Security or third-party tools that can monitor and control usage beyond the router level.

Is there a way to have all Telus Connect app sessions log out or expire? Again, unless the have some unpublished hack then I don't see how it's happening. I have changed the My Telus and the router admin password. If they have some device with an ongoing session that doesn't log out when I change the password? Do I need technical support to assist with ensuring all sessions are logged out?

Your kids likely aren't doing anything do get around the block. The one thing that so many people don't realize is that nearly all modern devices (Windows, macOS, iPhone & Android) have the ability to change their MAC address whenever they feel like it. Most cases it's enabled by default so if you restrict one MAC address, the device will change it to a new MAC address and get around the block. MAC address blocking doesn't work these days unless you disable the feature on the device you're trying to restrict.

i've white listed the mac addresses. only a list of mac addresses are allowed access. so everyone in the house had to turn off mac spoofing to get access in the first place. additionally, no new devices are showing up.
