I have recently upgraded to a new iPhone. I want to use my old iPhone as a backup device. Telus sent me a blank SIM card with the new phone. Can I activate the new SIM card and have it on my old phone? Or will the other SIM card deactivate?

You can only have one SIM activated with a number at once. If you activate the new SIM for your number, the old SIM is deactivated. Keep the new SIM just in case you ever need it. It is always good to have a spare.
