yesterday
I received a Telus telemarketing call trying to sell me something, this is happening 2-3 month on my business landline. However by chance I am retiring and need to cancel the landline. I was able to stop the sales presentation by saying I want to cancel.
The lady whose name I did not understand due to the language accent surprised me with a direct phone line which apparently is not readily available. Of course I ignored this as an up thread to another sales team.
First I called the service number on my bill a got a boiler room of Telus operatives each trying to talk louder than the person beside them. Sorta like the sound of a popular bar. Back and forth we went with questions and answer repeated often as we both had trouble hearing each other. Entering my account number did not bring up my account. After a dozen minutes it was determined my call was routed to residential service and I will be transferred to business.
The phone rang and I was offered three choices press 3 for cancellation. After going through the reason for my call, account number, phone number, the nice man said he could not help as he was service for internet.
I went online and found business connect cancellation. I knew it was probably not what I wanted but tried anyway.
Now I am looking at the number to a direct line to business line cancellation the first operator gave me, WTH, dialing. That phone number actually got an easy to understand English speaking person who in a proper period of time processed my scheduled cancellation of the business line after I gave a good reason for doing so that could not be challenged, I am retiring and closing the business, no need for a business line. Done.
Reading all the complaints of very bad customer service now makes perfect sense to me. TELUS, take a lesson from Trump and bring back your Canadian customer service people.
