telus email account user blocked by Outlook when sending an email

I do not use Outlook.  I do not want Outlook.  I unfortunately use a Telus email account and its unholy alliance with Google for sending ALL of my mail.  From time to time I must send an email to a contact who is using Outlook.  This has worked fine up until the other day.  Now, Outlook BLOCKS the email I sent from my Telus account and I can no longer communicate with my contact who uses Outlook.

Microsoft provides a lengthy explanation as to why this is happening and if I had three degrees in computer science from MIT I may understand it.  I do not have such degrees but am smart enough to understand that this is likely some Google Microsoft battle that I am caught in the middle of.  It is beyond my comprehension and I believe that TELUS, as the provider that I pay every month for service should be fixing this issue!!!!!  This is very frustrating and making me wish I had stayed with Shaw as my provider.

Hi @gordp maybe I can shed some insight into this issue. If you are sending an email just fine and the recipient is having issues, then the way to fix it is for the recipient to not use Outlook and instead use the native website dedicated to that email platform. Have them try going Here and log in.

If you have any questions we are here to help and you can send us a private message but there are a lot of variables here to determine who is at fault and how to fix it.

Thanks for the reply.
It is not the recipient having the problem, it is ME. MY emails will not go through. See attached. And if you follow the links Microsoft suggests as I did, the issue seems to come down to the usage of ports that are no longer available but far beyond my comprehension of technical issues. I’m more practical. And when I can send an email to the holder of the Outlook account via Apple Mail and iCloud, that causes me to cast an eye of suspicion on Telus.

How are you sending the email? Using what program?

I am using Mail V 11.5. My Apple iCloud mail account uses the same program and it goes through with no problem. I see a page of code that came through relative to the Block and note Google is mentioned. The rest of it I do not understand as it is mainly code.

Can you try sending the email through mail.google.com

The response from the remote server was:

550 5.7.515 Access denied, sending domain TELUS.NET doesn't meet the required authentication level. The sender's domain in the 5322.From address doesn't meet the authentication requirements defined for the sender. So to the layman, this message from Microsoft would seem to suggest thjat the problem is between Microsoft and Telus with, no doubt, a little help from Google inbetween.  No wonder things dont work. Anway, if there is something concrete I can do to assist I reluctantly will even though I have wasted considerable time on this already.  In the meantime, I will begin changing over my primary email contacts to my Apple Mail account which appears to be much more reliable.

Hello @gordp - we did not receive a response. What steps are you following to send this email? Can you try sending it through the native Gmail website and let us know what happens?

I experience the same/similar sending email from a Gmail account to Shaw.ca email account, gets blocked by Shaw.

I have used Outlook as the desktop for many years and had to upgrade to a 2019 version as the previous did not have the built in security level demanded by receiving email.

As people seem to know the Telus.net now goes through Google and yes there can be a battle for top dog with Microsoft which wants every PC to have a Microsoft account.

Just found 4 emails (Bills) from Telus in my spam folder. So who decided they were spam?
