Hi folks I’m planning to buy my own wifi router a WIFI 7 router so my two questions are.

number 1 do I need to find a pfsense router? Or can I use any wifi router?

Also after I bridge mode the NAH 20 will the fibre ont continue to work? I’m also planning to buy a 10gig switch do I need to set up anything with the 10gig switch.

im also planning to buy more mocas but i have one Telus moca that telus tech  gave me for free. But I was wondering if I have one active Telus moca can I get third party mocas without an issue.

please help this is my first time doing this.

i have telus Purefibre x 5Gig.

thanks thanks!

Hey @Adila2 - I'm a mod here and bridging is unsupported by us so you won't get an official response but you can use any third-party router and don't need a pfense one specifically.

I believe that the fibre ONT will continue to work as that's your "modem". Our routers are mostly called APs or "Access points" that work together to form a mesh network.

I believe that some third party network solutions can plug the fibre SFP directly into them so you can bypass our ONT but your mileage may vary. I am not super knowledgeable in third-party solutions.

All MoCa adapters work the same way so you shouldn't need a specific one from us.

Best of luck! If you need more help you can always message our Community Power Users (CPU) and they might be able to guide you but there are a ton of guides online and even more solutions available

A 10 gig unmanaged switch can have 10 gig only or multigig 100mbs, 1000mbs or 1 gigabit, 2500 mbs or 2.5 gigabit, 10,000mb or 10 gigabit speeds on the physical network ports on the switch. They will not have any settings or configurations settings to configure. A managed switch would have settings or configurations to set.

There are a few posts on the telus forum  about bridging feature between the telus network access hub and your own personal router.

It depends on personal preference of  features or settings of the brands or manufacturer you are looking for of  wired or wifi routers.Routers do come with wifi. Recommendations or references from users to suggest brands or manufacturer.

Pf sense  router is a security device or appliance gateaway or  firewall device.

Third party mocas should work fine without any issues

I hope that answers your questions, just a long time customer, hoping  to help.

Awesome posum brother 👊. So if I get my own router and connect into the modem will I need to bridge mode the nah first? Or will it work smoothly planning to get a tp link router.

Will the black ont continue to work perfectly since it’s for the home phone. Thanks.

what is the brand or manufacturer of the black ont?

you would first connect your personal router to the port 1 lan port or the 10 Gb lan port on the telus network access hub modem.

last step is to configure the bridge mode setting either port 1 lan port or the Port 10 G bridge mode setting.

Gotcha is it possible to do it the other way around connect a cat 8 cable into the black ont port from the port connect into  the 10gbps unmanaged switch. Then connect one of the 10gbps port into the nah then turn on bridge mode of one port 10gbps. Because back of the wifi router there’s a 10gbps wan port. Thanks! Or should I call Telus to freeze the 10gbps on the nah and activate its home phone port?

Or is 10gbps already running into both the nah and Nokia ont.

you can use the 10 gb   un managed switch  to connect more devices. as a suggestion.
