Can't upgrade phone on family plan!

I got my teen a phone a while back on the family plan. Add a line for $45/month. I was promised when I got this line that I'd always be able to upgrade the phone for my teen when his upgrade was due without having to change my plan. Telus app now that his phone is due for an upgrade though will not let me upgrade his phone without removing the family plan and getting him a full cost plan! Wth is even the point of offering family plans if you're just gunna make them change it as soon as they need to upgrade. We didn't stop being a family just because one of us needs a new phone!

When a plan is no longer part of our current in-market offerings, it may not be eligible for device upgrades through the app or online. In these cases, upgrading to a new device often requires switching to a current plan that supports new activations or renewals.
