When will Telus provide usable cell service in Comox Valley?

What is going on with Telus Mobility in Comox? My phone can show full bars connected to 5G network but I can’t get any data 90 percent of the time - on Comox Avenue, near my home, in east Courtenay, at Costco etc. Strong signal, zero data. The same thing on my wife’s phone. This has been ongoing. Completely unacceptable service. I’d complain directly to Telus but I can’t abide sitting waiting to talk to someone 12000 miles away who is going to tell me to reset my phone.i have reset everything more than once. My phone isn’t the issue. As I note it happens on other phones as well. Im a day away from switching to Roger’s.

The problem with the valley is when a tower is proposed. The location receives pushback against the tower and fails to get approved. The carriers have tried many times, it’s all the major players in the valley. 

If we had actual highrises more than 4-5 stories. Equipment could be placed on them for better coverage. Tin town is a prime example coverage is non existent, along with areas all over the valley.

I have had a cell phone since the 80's, they were bigger and they used antennas miles away. Called them mobile phones. Even had one where you pick up and ask the operator to call xxxxxxx.

With each improvement the transmit/receive distance is reduced, thus the term 'cell'.

5G is not what it was proclaimed to be, but the conversion to it is too far along. I live in a city and do not have 5G.

3G is about to be retired end of July. LTE is talked about more than 4G.

The solution for you in the country is to get Starlink and WIFI calling.
