I recently got a phone call - which I suspect was from a scammers in another country. They knew my name and asked how my Telus service was. Was I happy. There was a conversation and they kept saying because I've been with Telus a long time, they had a special offer of 30% discount on my service for the next two years. There was no information provided to them other than they already knew my name and telus my service. They said just give my your email and I'll send you all the information. I said, No, telus already knows my email...so you should be able to do it that way or just mail it to me. No other info was provided. I suspect a scam partly due to the request and also a lot of background noise which could be other callers in a call center doing the same. Just thought I'd put this out there to see if anyone else had such a call or be-aware.

I received this exact same call a month ago. I just hung up on them and never heard back from them again. I suspect it was a scam.

Definitely not a new scam. It's the typical one that's been going on for some time now. You are correct that if it was Telus, they would already have your email address if you are an existing customer.

On April 25th, I received a call in the afternoon from 403-930-9730 (brianhartsoluti) who purported to be from Telus, and wanted to reduce my monthly bill as a loyalty customer. The conversation was very smooth, and the only time my spider sense was activated was when this person asked me to change my Telus account password to one that this person provided. I hung up because I cannot fathom why that would be necessary. When I think about this, it would have been far more outrageous if Telus didn't do this very thing... call you with an offer.

IF your name and phone number are available to the public then if I call and address you by name I have a 50/50 chance of you answering as having a Telus account.
