Tuesday
I had contacted Telus technical support about cellular connectivity and I was contacted by senior tech support. His name is John.
I was told that in a built-up area with one or two multi-floor condo towers (and low-rise to mid-rise density elsewhere) that I can expect 3G service because that is written into the Telus service agreement and that cellular coverage isn't guaranteed. John kept reiterating that if go in a tunnel the service will drop. Based on the questions that I had previously asked I would have known that cellular connectivity drops in tunnels... He couldn't (or wasn't willing) to give me a reason why my phone switched to 3G during a voice call while using data (Apple Maps) in CarPlay.
When I questioned him about a noticeable shift in service about two months ago, I was met with silence.
John was incredibly dismissive of anything that I had to share. He kept cycling back to poor service in my underground parking and wasn't willing to listen to the issue I was having with dropped calls in a major metropolitan area. I was also told that I should expect dropped calls when driving and switching between cellular towers.
I have never experienced dropped calls with a Canadian cellular carrier in my life. It seems like his explanations were a major cop out.
