Got an email for a Telus promo. Number on the email is 1-833-880-8828.
Rep asked me to create a new account and do credit check with Drivers licence, credit card or SIN.
Called back from 888-811-2323
Are these legit Telus numbers?

100% not Telus. I'm surprised the scammers are still using the same numbers all these years later.

I called them out on it saying I think it's a scam. He told me to call any Telus contact number and verify that he will leave notes on my file. I called Telus customer support and they said yes they have left notes on my file. How's that possible if it's a scam? What's their end game if Ive already given them my DL and CC?
Background:
Got an email for a Telus promo. Number on the email is 1-833-880-8828. Rep said they have a win back promo for me. $35 US CAN 60GB and $75 credit. Rep asked me to create a new account and do credit check with Drivers licence, credit card or SIN. Told them I need time to think about it. Called back from 888-811-2323. Told the rep I think it's a scam. They said they'll leave a note on my file and I can call Telus to confirm. I called Telus 1-866-558-2273 (number in their website) and they confirmed that the note is there about me going to call in to check whether the agent is legit or not.
