There are definitely red flags in that conversation you had. If you haven't done so already, I would encourage you to report this to the Canada Anti-fraud Centre.
From the sound of it, the call appears to be a scam. For the future, if TELUS contacts you about promos and/or offers, we will always leave a detailed note on the account about the correspondence so that you can call back at your convenience to verify.

Just got a call too from a number 604-718-6808. Non-native English speaker with a Southeast Indian accent.
Saying they can get me a new phone, with my plan. Scary is they knew my name attached to my number.

I just had a call from this number.+1 (780) 619-5093. They wanted to reduce my bill. It just didn’t sound right. He asked me how much was my last bill. I gave him the number, but it was curious why a Telus representative can’t see my last bill on there computer. The guy in the phone was way too upset about the amount I pay for only one phone. I told him I don’t feel comfortable to continue because it doesn’t sound like my usual dealing with a Telus agent. He gave me his name and employee identification number and asked me to call 587 782 5255 to get confirmation from the company on his identity. He was trying to pressure me to keep him on hold. I just told him I’ll call him back and hang up.

I was contacted by a guy by the name of Ali Naseem who said he was with Telus Promotions. He also offered me a S25 Ultra 256 GB. With a package price of unlimited calls, 125 gb of roll over data, with the option of keeping my S24 without having to pay the amount outstanding, all for $80 PLUS i get to keep the 25 at the end of the 2 year contract at no extra charge. Obviously I said ok. About an hour into the conversation he told me that tge sales team needed a photo of both sides of my driver's licence plus a selfie for verification purposes. The program that he provided didn't work. So he told me to go to a Telus store to let them verify me, which they did. While I was there I got a call from a Telus rep who said the order had been placed. I recieved a 25 Ultra 2 days later but the IEMI number didn't match what was on my contract. Ali told me to send it back and sent me a shipping label via email. That landed in my junk folder, strange. I called Telus Customer Service to ask if this was a legitimate offer and they said it was. Now today after about 5 hours on the phone with them over 2 weeks trying to sort this mess out Ali advised me to go and purchase the phone from BELL MOBILITY and that Telus would buy my contract from them. VERY STRANGE. He said that he would send me an email too outline everything, he hasn't.
Very strange because Telus themselves say that the order for the S25 had been placed but everything else Ali said I would be getting is nothing but problem after problem.

That sounds like it was a scam. Did they send you an email and have you reset a password? When you called Telus, what number did you dial? What address was on the return shipping label?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention — this definitely sounds like a scam. TELUS will never ask you to send photos of your ID or a selfie through unofficial channels, and we do not ask customers to go through other carriers like Bell as part of any legitimate offer. We strongly encourage you to:
